YOUR SELF-WORTH AND SELF-ESTEEM

You are worth far more than what you think. If you only knew your value, you wouldn’t have to deal
with low self-esteem issues. You are unique, so you don’t have to be like every other person. If you
were, there wouldn’t be anything special about you.
You are worth far more than you imagine. Psalms 139:14 ‘I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well’. Low self-esteem is simply a negative feeling or negative thoughts about oneself. It could be based on what others have said to you, comparison to your peers or how society has defined you. Whatever the cause may be, it is harmful to your sense of self-worth and should not be given a second thought. The foundation of good self-esteem is genuine love.
You must love yourself for who you are, what God has made of you and where He is taking you to. The reason people have poor self-esteem is that they do not realise that life is a process, and so they have to walk with the Perfecter of all plans to get to their destination. They are envious of others and don’t realise that everyone has his or her own ordained path.
Accept the special qualities in you and run with it. People might not see it now but at the end, when you have done it all with all sincerity and gratitude to God, you shall stand out and people shall see it and celebrate the virtues in you. Build that self-esteem today by dwelling in the Word of God, using prayers and speaking positively to yourself; it will all be worth the effort tomorrow!
If you have low self-esteem, your beliefs about yourself will often be negative. You will tend to focus on your weaknesses and mistakes that you have made and may find it hard to recognise the positive parts of your personality.
You may also spend all of your time blaming yourself for any difficulties or failures that you have encountered.
To help yourself, focus on God. You are valuable to God and worth more than rubies and the wealth of the world. A man that gains the whole world but unable to make heaven, is worth nothing before God. The Scriptures say in Mark 8:36-37 ‘For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and
loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?’.
