Chapter 1
There was a man called John who had a wife named Josephine. They had been married for many years, but so far they had been unsuccessful in their attempts to have children of their own, no matter how hard they tried or how much they prayed. However, despite this setback, they were both incredibly kind, patient, loving and caring people and had great faith in God. So they continued to fervently pray for the fruit of the womb.
John is a remarkable person who possesses not only an impressive height and handsome features but also has a multitude of endearing qualities that make him truly captivating. Sometimes though, John and Josephine because very depressed and frustrated at their inability to have a child. They often felt that God had forgotten them because despite their best efforts, their dreams of having a family seemed to be slipping away. Little did they know that God had seen their plight and was preparing to bless them.
Despite their despair, they never stopped praying and hoping that one day God would answer their prayers.
As it says in James 1:17, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”
One day, John and Josephine were walking through the city with their heads hung low. They had been married for many years but had still not been blessed with a child. Even though they had dedicated their lives to serving God, they sometimes felt as if He had forgotten them in that aspect.
They stopped in the park to sit on a bench and contemplate their lives. As they were pondering their situation, they heard a voice saying, “For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
John and Josephine looked up, surprised to hear the words of the Lord. They felt a warmth fill their hearts and knew that God had not forgotten them. In that moment, they realised that God was working in their lives, preparing to bless them.
John and Josephine continued on their walk, this time with a renewed sense of hope. As they strolled , they heard another voice saying, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
John and Josephine smiled as they heard the Word of God. They knew that God was with them, and that He was leading them down the path of righteousness. In that moment, they felt a renewed peace that they had never felt before.
During their leisurely stroll in the park, they came across Judy and Philip, accompanied by their two children, Jack and Steph. However, it quickly became apparent that the children’s manners left much to be desired.
Judy and Philip, were deeply distraught by the relentless antics of their two children, Jack and Steph, and often found themselves searching for a solution. Their hearts weighed heavy with worry and disappointment, as they longed for their children to exhibit better behaviour and respect.
Judy and Philip yearned for a harmonious family life and often sought guidance and support to navigate this challenging phase that their children were going through. Despite their distress, they remained committed to finding a way to help Jack and Steph grow into considerate and responsible children.
Jack and Steph more often than not exhibited a remarkable lack of courtesy, engaging in disruptive behaviour without any regard for those around them. They disregarded personal boundaries and seemed oblivious to the discomfort they caused others.
It was a disappointing sight for John and Josephine, who had hoped for a peaceful and enjoyable outing in the park. John, being the kind man he was, decided to help the couple out by talking to the children and teaching them the ways of God. The children listened for a while but soon ran off.
John and Josephine, sensing Judy and Philip’s distress, struck up a conversation with them. As Christians themselves, they found common ground and empathised with the challenges of raising children.
To their surprise, they discovered that they lived in the same street, which further deepened the connection between them. Recognising the opportunity to extend a helping hand, John and Josephine expressed their genuine desire to support and assist the family.

It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud… It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

John and Josephine lived in a small town. They had a neighbour named Kola, who was rather nosy and was always trying to meddle in their affairs.
Kola has distinct physical features that reflect his African heritage. He has a prominent nose that adds character to his face, reminding us of the intricacies of God’s creation.
He is blessed with captivating eyes that hold a spark of curiosity and wisdom, a spark that speaks of his deep understanding and desire to explore spiritual truths.
Kola’s lips are full and exude a unique beauty, representing the diversity of African features and the beauty of his African heritage, which ultimately serves as a reminder of God’s marvellous craftsmanship.
In addition to his physical attributes, Kola carries a fascinating heritage as the son of a native doctor and shaman. This lineage suggests a profound connection to traditional beliefs and practices that have been part of various cultures throughout history.
Kola’s belief in the occult further emphasises his spiritual inclination and his willingness to explore mystical and mythical realms beyond the ordinary.
Despite their strong faith and commitment, John and Josephine faced persistent interference from Kola, who was not a Christian and who often invaded their privacy with diabolical dexterity unannounced.
In these challenging circumstances, they leaned on biblical guidance to navigate the situation. Proverbs 14:29 reminds us, “Whoever is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who has a hasty temper exalts folly.” John and Josephine always exemplified patience and understanding while dealing with Kola’s intrusive behaviour.
On numerous occasions, Kola would overhear their family discussions about spiritual matters and would interrupt with skepticism.
One such instance involved John and Josephine discussing the power of prayer in their living room. Intruding upon their privacy, Kola questioned the efficacy of prayer and challenged their beliefs.
In response, John and Josephine recalled Matthew 21:22, which states, “And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.”
With love and humility, they shared personal testimonies of answered prayers and how their faith had positively impacted their lives.
Another incident occurred when Kola noticed their consistent church attendance and questioned the rationale behind it. He confronted them, questioning the relevance of religious practices in the modern world.
In reply, John and Josephine referred to Hebrews 10:25, which encourages believers to “not neglect to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another.”
They explained the importance of fellowship, worship, and spiritual growth within a community of believers, emphasising the support and encouragement they received from their church family.
Despite their attempts to set boundaries, Kola continued to pry into their personal affairs and offer unsolicited advice.
Reflecting on Proverbs 17:9, which states, “Whoever covers an offence seeks love, but he who repeats a matter separates close friends,” John and Josephine chose to address the issue with love and honesty.
They had a respectful conversation with Kola, kindly and patiently explaining their need for privacy and expressing gratitude for his concern. They shared their desire for a harmonious neighbourly relationship where everyone respected each other’s boundaries.
In the face of Kola’s superstitious beliefs and persistent attempts to convince them otherwise, John and Josephine remained steadfast in their trust in the Lord and their reliance on their faith.
They continuously found strength and guidance in biblical verses that affirmed their convictions.
When Kola suggested seeking help from a native doctor for Josephine to conceive, John and Josephine turned to Jeremiah 17:5-8, which declares, “Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh… But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord.”
With deep faith, they understood that their hope and reliance should be placed solely in God, for He is the ultimate source of blessings and miracles.
Despite Kola’s persistent persuasion, they recalled Psalm 121:1-2, which proclaims, “I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”
Holding onto this truth, they firmly declined Kola’s suggestions, knowing that their trust in the Lord and His timing were paramount.
In moments of doubt, John and Josephine found solace in Philippians 4:6-7, which encourages believers, saying, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
They knew that God’s peace would guide them through their journey, and they chose to present their desires and concerns to Him in prayer, seeking His guidance and comfort.
Through their unwavering faith and trust in the Lord, John and Josephine remained resolute in their decision, knowing that God’s plans were perfect and that His timing was always right.
They clung to Isaiah 40:31, which assures, “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
They firmly believed that God would provide for them and fulfil their desires according to His divine plan.
In the face of Kola’s superstitious beliefs, John and Josephine relied on the power of their faith, trusting in God’s sovereignty and His ability to work miracles in their lives. They stood firm in their convictions, knowing that their hope and help came from the Lord alone.

Galatians 6:9 encouraged them during this journey, reminding them, “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”
Through their unwavering commitment to living out their faith and their respectful engagement with Kola, the intrusive behaviour gradually diminished, fostering a more peaceful and respectful relationship.
Chapter 8
On seeing a remarkable change in Kola, John and Josephine then began playing a supportive role in helping him approach matters of spirituality with discernment and align them with the teachings of the Bible.
They did this by encouraging Kola to study the Bible regularly. They also provided him with resources like study guides, devotionals, and recommended Bible study groups where he could delve deeper into the Scriptures rather than the occult.
They even shared their own spiritual journeys, experiences and their beliefs with him with passages from the Bible. By sharing real-life examples, they provide Kola with practical insights and lessons that he learned along the way to becoming a good Christian.
John and Josephine engaged in open and respectful discussions with Kola about spiritual topics. They created a safe space where he could ask questions, express his thoughts, and explore different perspectives. This helped him develop critical thinking skills and navigate spiritual matters with discernment.
In order to further widen his knowledge and understanding, John and Josephine introduced Kola to trusted mentors and spiritual leaders who had a solid understanding of the Bible. Without knowing it or realising it Kola had gotten more intrigued and hungered for more and more biblical knowledge. He was hooked!
Chapter 9
John and Josephine believed their faith in God would not only see them through every difficulty but also in living their lives.
As the Bible says in Ecclesiastes 3:1, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.”
John and Josephine knew that God’s timing was always perfect and that they just had to wait for their miracle to manifest.
They held fast to this promise and continued to rely on God’s help, no matter how difficult things became. They knew that the Lord was always with them and that no obstacle was too great for Him.
As the Bible says, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6).
Finally, John and Josephine’s prayers were answered and in a miraculous way too.
Josephine suddenly became pregnant, and the couple was overjoyed.
Josephine’s sudden pregnancy was an unexpected yet welcome miraculous event in their lives. Just as in the Bible, where divine interventions and blessings often occurred, Josephine’s conception carried a sense of divine purpose and providence.
John and Josephine had faithfully committed their lives to God, seeking His guidance and following His teachings. They saw this as a divine blessing, a gift from God that affirmed their love and commitment to one another.

They embraced the joyful news with gratitude, recognizing the miracle unfolding within Josephine’s womb as a testament to God’s faithfulness and His hand in their lives.

John and Josephine were overjoyed. They thanked God for His blessings and for never forgetting them. As it says in Psalm 94:19, “When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.”
They knew that God had heard their prayers and had blessed them with the greatest gift of all: a child.
They always knew that with God on their side, nothing was impossible. They were overjoyed and thanked God for his goodness and mercy. As the Bible says in Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
The months quickly passed as they eagerly anticipated the imminent arrival of their child.
When their baby boy finally arrived, they were filled with joy and gratitude for being blessed with such a wonderful gift. The couple named their precious bundle of joy Johnathan which means Gods gift.
Johnathan was not only a blessing to the couple, but to all those around him. He had a cheerful and kind spirit, and his presence was a reminder to join and Josephine of the power of prayer and faith.
They cherished their time with Jonathan and were thankful for the precious gift of life that they had been given. They never forgot the faith and prayers that brought Johnathan into their lives, and were forever grateful for the strength and courage that it gave them.
John and Josephine had learned to trust in the Lord and lean not on their own understanding. Through God’s help, they were able to overcome their depression and frustration and find true joy and peace.
John and Josephine’s story is an inspiring one. It shows us that even in difficult circumstances, if we trust in God and have faith, He will bless us in His time.
It also reminds us that it is good to be patient, loving and caring, and that we should always be kind to others. We may not always be rewarded for our good deeds, but we can be rest assured that God will always notice and will reward us in ways that we may not expect.
John and Josephine continued to trust in the Lord. They knew that God would never forget them, even though they may have felt forgotten. And they were right. After years of waiting, God had finally answered their prayers, blessing them with a child of their own.
They thanked God for His faithfulness and for His loving kindness. They knew that no matter what life threw at them, God was always there, watching over them. Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen, (Hebrews 11:1)
Whatever we do we shouldn’t do it alone. We need to be prayerful and stay the course, mindful of the fact that God is always with us and that no matter what the circumstances are, we should not be discouraged because not only is God our strength, He will reward us in due time.
Mark 11:22-24 (ESV): “And Jesus answered them, ‘Have faith in God. Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him.'”
Faith is an integral part of the Christian belief system and is a gift from God. It is described as the assurance or confidence in things hoped for and not seen, and can enable believers to accomplish extraordinary things and receive God’s blessings.
Faith shapes our views, actions, and relationship with God, providing a foundation for belief and trust, and can inspire us to live according to our values, seek guidance from a higher power, and find meaning and purpose in our lives.
PRAYER.
“May our faith never falter, O Lord, for in You we find strength and hope. Through the trials and challenges that come our way, may our trust in Your goodness remain unwavering. Grant us the courage to walk steadfastly on the path of righteousness, guided by Your Word and teachings. Fill our hearts with unwavering faith, that we may persevere in times of doubt and uncertainty. Help us to always seek Your will and align our lives with Your divine purpose. May our faith shine brightly as a beacon of Your love and grace, inspiring others to draw near to You. In Your holy name, we pray. Amen.”
